The Buddha Bar Healing Clinic

I am so far behind on my blog its not funny! So much has happened in the last three months since I have been back in Australian and my last blog post.

I will update on that later, but for now, please see below my review of The Buddha Bar Healing Clinic in Newtown NSW.

The day began with my morning ritual of coffee and a banana for breakfast with an apple on the way to the train station. My body was more than ready for a day of relaxation.

I’d recently found myself in a rut so to speak. My mind running at a million miles an hour, all the time. Work is so fast paced now, I struggle to slow down and relax. I was over due for some ‘me time’. This is how I came across The Buddha Bar Healing Clinic.

As I wandered through King St in Newtown, I made mental notes of restaurants along the way that I wanted to check out and also possibly blog about.

My appointment was at 11:15am, but I arrived just before 11am so I could fill out the consultation form and relax in the Buddha Lounge. As I entered through the shop front, the scent of sage insense instantly calmed my nerves and the decor was relaxing and majestic. I had my consultation details filled out so I did a little but of shopping in the retail area, including a few insenses for home.

Trish, my massage therapist came to pick me up and confirmed that I was in for a 60 minute Ayurvedic Massage.

I was guided towards the stairs behind the lounge that leads down to the tranquil ‘Lotus Garden’. Down in the garden I was greeted with a water feature, plants all around and stepping stones that lead to a hut where I would have my massage.

I sat in the treatment room and the therapist had a brief discussion about what I would expect in the massage and about what my areas of concern were.

Trish left the room and I undressed and got myself onto the treatment table ready for my massage. The table was lightly draped with designed cloth. They sat nicely over me, not too heavy for a warm day.

As she came back into the room, I could faintly hear school children in the background. It must have been recess time for them, the noise didn’t bother me too much. Trish turned up the music and I could feel my head already relaxing into the face cradle. I was already easily comfortable with her.

The massage began on my back and from what I understood, a blend of oils and herbs to match my Dosha Type was poured slowly onto my back before beginning the massage.

I hadn’t fully relaxed yet, my mind takes a while to switch down. My mind was still thinking in overtime, but little by little, as my back was being worked on, I could feel the oils starting to slow down my thoughts.

The song ‘Skinny Love’ (originally by Birdy) was playing sung by X Factor contestant Bella Ferarro. I knew it wasn’t the original because I personally think the cover is so much better and such a beautiful song.

With music playing that I knew, I began following it in my head which is when I finally began to fully relax.

After my back my therapist moved down to my legs and my feet. Oh my gosh, I love my feet being massaged. I’m on my feet all day everyday at work so they get a bit of a beating now and then.

I was almost at the point of semi conciousness/ half asleep when it was time to turn over to the front.

I faced up and returned to my dream like state as my eyes were covered with a pillow and the song ‘Strong’ by London Grammar came on.

“Excuse me for a while” seemed appropriate as I remembered just how important it is to take time out for myself every now and then.

The massage continued on my arms and legs and finally my declotage (my second favourite place to be massaged after my feet). The movements were sweeping as one arm overlapped the other over my chest, lightly turning my head each time for a gentle neck stretch.

By now I was completely in zen and I could smell the oils. I smelled amazing!

The treatment came to an end 😦 haha as they always have to, and I was recommended to try the Shiro-Dhara treatment next time!

I wandered back up the stairs and re-booked to come back in a couple of weeks. I was still in quite a tranquil state so I wandered around Newtown and found a nice place for lunch, continuing my relax day.

Thank you for the amazing treatment I had at The Buddha Bar Healing Clinic ladies 🙂

Monday, December 26th 2016 – Neverland

Once upon a time, in a land not too far away, a magical land of snow and ice castles existed. This place was known as Neverland.

march-2016

Living in this magical land, were people who had come from all over the kingdom. Far and wide, creatures would come and stay. Some for a short while, to work and make magical coins and then return to their home land to continue on their journey. Others stayed for a longer period of time, and would eventually begin to make themelves at home.

Everyone would come with their own stories to tell of how they ended up in the magical land of Neverland. But regardless of how everyone got there, everyone had atleast this one thing in common; a free spirited and adventurous personality.

Some of the creatrues were known as ‘Peter Pans’ of the world. They had come from far away, had flown from across the sea to be there, go on adventures and help out the other creatures of the land. Others were ‘Tigerlilys’, native to the area. They knew the secrets of the landscape and how to avoid creatures such a wild bears and could easily navigate the rugged land without getting lost or hurt.

The Darlings would often visit and stay in the wonderful magical palace, to have little adventures of their own. The Peter Pans and the Tigerlilys would show them around the land, serve them with local delicacies and most of all, make them feel right at home.

Every now and then, a new magical creature could be found in Neverland. A creature that goes by the name of Tinkerbell.

This creature was a mender and a fixer. Finding its way in the world by helping others. Most Tinkerbells that ended up in Neverland, usually wanted to stay to help all of the Darling’s and the other creatures run the land. Tinkering about, fixing things here, mending things there.

Sometimes a Tinkerbell would have so many feelings for one small creature, that they often struggle to balance their emotions and find themselves torn between staying in Neverland with the other creatures and flying to across the sea to help other creatures in other little kingdoms.

But the one thing for sure about Tinkerbells, is that where ever they went, they would always leave a trail of fairy dust behind to help the other creatures fly and always think happy thoughts. And even though Tinkerbells had big personalities, that was sometimes diffucult to understand, they always just wanted to help others and inspire them with a little fairy dust and magic.

One of the little Tinkerbells felt it was her time to eventually move on and continue spreading her magic around the world and continue to share her fairy dust with not only the creatures of Neverland, but other people who needed the magic and fairy dust a little bit more.

Near the end of her time in Neverland, the powerful creatures of the land were throwing a party to celebrate all of The Darlings that had visited and to thank all of the Peter Pans and Tigerlilys for everything they had done.

Of course Tinkerbell knew she must attend to sprinkle just a little bit of her fairy dust to complete the magical scene of the evening.

Sunday, December 18th 2016 – PLEASE STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT 2016

may-2016-is-the-messiest-year-this-decade-even-2012-4311815

If I see one more F#%$ing meme about 2016 being sooo baaaddd, I am going to lose it.

(This is me losing it now by the way)

For weeks now, all that is spreading around on social media is how bad of a year everyone has had this 2016.

But really, was it really that BAD FOR YOU?

People please stop spreading negative nancy news on social media about how awful your 2016 was when you have a healthy family to go home to, or you are blessed to be able to travel the world, or you finally got that promotion/house/wedding that you have been waiting for and just having a life in general.

Yes, I do know some really crappy things have happened this year-

Please note, This is not meant to be insensative or offend anyone, especially if there is anyone reading this who have been personally affected by such things this year. BUT really if that hasn’t personally affected you, please for the love of god stop complaining.

Do I think that Brock Turner should be locked up for life, YES! Do I agree with Trump being voted into a position of power? HELL NO.

I understsnd that with that ‘cheerio head’ our generation is about to take a step backwards  after 30+ years of slow progress. But, that is because little by little, our society is letting it happen. Our society is continuesly focusing on the negative in the world, that is why ‘2016 was such a bad year’. Let’s fast forward 12 months shall we and lets see what happens in 2017 hmm..

So many people were focused on Trump not winning the election, but there was too much publicity and attention for him not to be. Everyone could see that coming from a mile away.

Life is about interpretation and if you take on all of the negative things that have happened this year instead of focusing on all of the positive aspects in your life, negativity will continue to be drawn to you.

68908778

I am working and living overseas and live a life of traveling and peace because I have chosen this life. It is not because of luck or chance. It is about the law of attraction ( I will be going into further detail about this in another blog post)

You have the choice to live a positive life too.

I am not being ignorant about the bad crap that happens in the world either. I know that bad things happen everyday. But you aren’t going to help anyone but taking on their negativity. It is a cycle. Promote positiveness and that is what will be received in return.

I’ve had my own share of bad days this year, just because I generally don’t post about them, doesn’t mean they don’t happen. I just choose not to focus on them, and if I do, it is to make a point or show a lesson from something to have learnt from. I always choose a positive from a bad day.

We all have bad days, and that is ok. Take them for what they are. But has there really been 352 days so far of bad days this year??

Still don’t believe me- check out the good things that happened this year 🙂

Friday, December 16th 2016 – Dancing is good for the soul

As we approach the festive season of Christmas and New Years, I thought this might be an appropriate time to post this blog of mine.

Dancing and music has always been something that has made me feel good. Now I’m not a musician (although I tried a couple of times to learn guitar and fell out of habit each time) and I’m certainly no dancer, but I have fun with it none the less. I’ve taken the Zumba classes and my friends dance school adults classes on a Tuesday night when I was back in Australia.

But my most favourite habit of all, in dancing of a morning when I’m getting ready for work!

Each morning I’ll have the music going in the shower, in my room while I’m doing my hair and makeup, even when I’ve got the kettle on for my coffee.

I like to think of it as ‘waking up on the right side of the bed’ but with music and dancing. I promise you, you will be in the best mood for a good part of the day if not all day!

I used to listen to music in my car in Australia on the 40 minute commute to Tafe or the 5 minute drive to work. It’s a little bit different now with my 5 minute walk through knee deep snow to work 😂

So, music and dancing isn’t just for the celebration time of the year. It’s for 365 days a year when you wake up, grateful for the life you have been cherished with 💜

Wednesday, December 14th 2016 – Dogsledding

So a week ago, myself and a fellow Aussie friend did one of the most iconic Canadian tourist things that you can do out here in The Rockies. We went dogsledding!!!

And dear holy jesus, it was the coldest I have ever been in my whole life. The temperature outside was about minus 16 degrees celsius, and we were still game enough to go dogsledding.

We had our tights and underclothes on, with a couple layers of sweaters, a Canadian winter jacket, snow pants, scarves, beanies and gloves!

After we decked ourselves out in the winter gear, we headed down to the Great Divide parking lot, just 2 or 3 kilometres down from the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, where we met up with our guides for the 90 minute Great Divide dogsledding adventure 🙂

img_2568

15267736_10154306544564842_2242434245575216916_n

As sunny and beautiful as it looked, there was a distinct chill in the air. The kind that made your nose hairs freeze and made your eyelashes stick together when you blink. That really dry cold moutain air. You know the kind I’m talking about.

We were then introduced to our team of dogs as well as our guide Megan “Queen of Kimgmik”, from Kingmik Dog Sled Tours. She was really cool and told us all the names of the dogs and handed out packet hand warmers (we would definitely need these later on).

Bonnie and I snuggled into the sled and made ourselves as warm and comfortable as possible and I soon pulled out the GoPro to get as much footage as I possibly could without my hand frezzing and snapping off haha.

15284969_10154306544704842_3198563578942525810_n

While we waited in the sled, the dogs became very impatient and we could tell that they were ready for this adventure just as much as we were!

It wasn’t long and we were off sledding down along the already carved path in the sled behind the dogs, casually passing people on the cross country skiing trail.

The dogs were beautiful and canine athletes in their prime.

Bonnie and I just sat back and enjoyed the view while listening to our guide tell us stories about how long she had been dogsledding for and more about the dogs as well as the area around the Great Divide.

The snow capped trees surrounded us on the trail, with big white mountains directly infront of us, just so grande that it was overwhelming.

After about forty minutes, we reached the Great Divide arch and turned around and Megan parked the dogs so we could get our for a stretch and move our feet around. This is also when the hand warmers came in handy. I pulled them out of my pocket, gave them a shake and placed them on the inside of my gloves to warm up the hands.

We got some fun pics with the dogs and gave them another quick pat before heading back for the rest of the journey.

As cold as it was in the sled (your body isn’t really moving and your feet get cold from laying still) it was honestly one of the most amazing experiences I have had the pleasure of being a part of while out here in Canada.

Check out my amateur GoPro video and get in contact with this amazing team if your looking to do a tour while out here in The Rockies 🙂

Monday, December 12th 2016 – I sometimes have 20 different drafts at once (now 21)

Have you ever come up with a blog idea in the middle of nowhere, but you don’t have time to sit down and pour your heart out into the post?

There has been so many times when I go “oh yeah, I want to blog about this topic”. I will create a draft and come back to it in a few days.

I feel like out here in Lake Louise, now that I have so to speak settled back in, I have been re-motivated and re-energized. I am finding a lot of inspiration from the people around me out here for things to blog about at the moment.

I currently have over 20 different drafts sitting in my drafts folder, just waiting to be written. It’s funny though because I will go through fases, where I have so many great pieces and want to write all the time, for weeks even. Then out of the blue, I can go weeks with out having an idea or doing a post.

I guess it’s like when you fall and out of the habit of going to the gym haha.

Happy Blogging 🙂

Friday, December 9th 2016 – Help! I think I’ve lost the travel bug

For a couple of weeks, I had gone into panic mode. I though I had lost the travel bug!

For the longest time in my adultish life, I had always had this itch, this feeling that I had to keep looking for something. Like I was always missing something.

After my surgeries in 2012, I was finally free of the medical demons that had been holding me back so I began travelling.

I have been told that I am one of those Millennial Travelers, who takes advantage of the ease, convenience and low cost of travel. I had the travel bug for sure! I needed to see as much as I possibly could. The more you travel, the less scary it actually becomes to be in a foreign country.

I am always in search of something that was always missing. I can’t tell you exactly what it is. Travel? Success? Career? Husband? I actually couldn’t tell you the right answer. All of the above? haha

I also felt I needed to travel, because well, I could. This may be a selfish statement, but I actually see it as the complete opposite. I am fortunate. I have been raised with fortunate opportunities. I am blessed to have a life, and the life that I have. So,  I travel to make the most of my blessed life at this point in my life, before I do have the house and the mortgage and the husband.

A couple of weeks ago, I went into panic mode and lost the travel bug completely! I just wanted a normal life again. I was beating myself up about being that ‘selfish’ person that has to travel. I needed to know why in my head, I felt that I no longer needed to travel the world, when it was something that had been on my mind for so long.

Well fear not followers, the bug has returned! I sat down one day and pulled out a world map and looked at the countries and destinations that I wanted to visit next.

England, Peru, Costa Rica, Spain.. You name it, I had it on the list. I then started prioritizing where I wanted to go first, and how much each destination would cost me.

(Mind you, I can’t actually afford any of this yet, but making lists and organizing my thoughts helps me focus and know that it is achievable in the long run!)

So after I looked at costs and other things, I pulled up about 5 different travel companies to make comparisons. Contiki, G Adventures, Gecko’s Adventures, Live Before Work and Intrepid Travel. I figured out which tours would be the most affordable and practical and gathered my mind back to where I needed it to be.

I never want to have to apologize for being a traveller. It’s something that will always be there.

Saturday December 3rd 2016 – Knowledge Is Power

From the day I walked into my primary school, Cowra Public School, I was taught that ‘knowledge is power’. It was our school motto.

cpslogo_1340513692128_m

I always interpreted this as learning at school. Learning what our teachers were teaching us about our times tables and what is gramically correct. I never really fully understood the complexicity of the term until recently.

Everyday we are always learning. Every single day.

If we are not learning, we are not living.

It is always on the forefront of my mind to be able to share information with people that I come into contact with to help them learn something new. I know how excited and motivated I am when I learn something new.

Whether it is something work based, to help someone better their day at work or something personal, information or a hand that I can lend, I have always had the personality of wanting to help others.

The other day, a friend thanked me for recommending a particular experience to them that I had also experienced. It was knowledge that was too good not to share. Why would I keep information to myself when I can share it with the world. Better someone else’s day?

I think this is why I blog, to share information!

The more people circulate knowledge, the better off the world becomes.

When you ar excited about something new that you have learnt, or information that you KNOW will help someone else, I feel it is our duty as humans to help other gr0w.

The more you learn, the more you know, the more you know, the more power to you 🙂

Monday, November 28th 2016 – Fairview Lookout

Today, I decided to go for a walk up to the Fairview Lookout to check out the view of the ski hill and all of the snow from up high.

But first, I had to get some amazing pictures of the hotel and the lake on the way.

The sign on the way up to Fairview Lookout

After walking for 1.5 kms, I reached the beautiful lookout that looks over the lake, the hotel and even over to the ski hill!

You can see that the lake is not fully frozen yet and it is quite dangerous to walk on still.

All of these photos were taken on my iPhone! Untouched and unfiltered 🙂

The snow up at the lookout was atleast 50 centimetres deep. The legs on the chair at the lookout were completely snowed in.

Oh Lake Louise, I will always have a special place for you in my heart ❤

Wednesday, November 23rd 2016 – Lake Louise comparison photos

I’ve wanted for a little while now do to a Lake Louise comparison photos post. This amazing little piece of the world transforms overnight from a summer sensation destination to a winter wonderland. And every little bit of it is just as picturesque as the day before.
